Crab Release at Bangpu — A Thai Tradition
Releasing crabs is a beloved Thai merit-making tradition. Bangpu's coastline is one of the most popular spots in Samut Prakan for this activity — the shallow coastal waters provide ideal habitat for released crabs to thrive.
Many Thai families and corporate groups visit Bangpu specifically for CSR activities and trips. The practice is believed to bring good fortune and long life. Weekend mornings are the most popular time, with vendors near the coast selling crabs ready for release.
How to Plan Your Trip
Morning (8:00–10:00): Arrive at the Bangpu coastline for crab release. The best spots are along the shore near Bang Pu Recreation Center. Some groups also release fish at the same time.
Late morning (10:00–11:00): Optional visit to Wat Asokaram — a beautiful temple just 10 minutes away. Make merit at the temple, then continue to lunch.
Lunch (11:30–13:00): Head to Sunspirit for a celebratory meal. Our restaurant opens at 11:00 — perfect timing after your morning activities. The ocean terrace adds meaning to a day that's already about gratitude and connection.
For corporate groups: Sunspirit's private dining room seats up to 30 guests. Contact us for group bookings and set menus tailored to your CSR event.
